The snow tells me it is truly winter. January is a good month to join NNMHA and join us at the monthly meetings. We look forward to seeing all of you at the January 30 meeting.

November Speaker
Robert Holt, long time local farrier, was a most interesting and entertaining speaker, sharing with us over 100 slides of horses, hooves and shoes. A dazzling array of hoof problems and shoeing solutions, including onion shoes, clogs, and reverse shoeing, were discussed. Thank you Robert.
Christmas Party
On Saturday, December 8, the NNMHA Christmas party was held at Eldon and Karen’s home at the end of Spur Ranch Road, past Eldorado. Only about 15 braved the weather but the food was wonderful and the gift exchange was fun, if not a little tense at times. We played a game where everyone drew a number to determine order. #1 selected a gift and opened it. #2 could then choose a new gift and open it, or take the gift from #1. If they took #1’s gift, then #1 could choose a new gift from the pile. This went on until all the gifts were chosen. The favorite gifts seemed to be silk scarves/wildrags and people all but fought over them. However, a gift could be taken by only a third person before it was declared “dead” and no longer up for grabs. A great time was had by all.
Calendar of Events
Monthly meetings are held the last Wednesday of the month (excluding September and December) at the Plaza South Side Café, 3011 Cerrillos Rd. at 7 p.m. Speaker begins at 7:30 p.m. Good idea to get there by 6:30 if having dinner. For more info contact Eldon.
January 30, 2008 – General Meeting Guest Speaker: Clint Mortenson on “Saddles: The Real Story”. Clint, our local master saddlemaker and silversmith, will bring all the parts and the whole deal on designing, making and fitting saddles.
